When was rhode island?

The state of Rhode Island has existed since the 17th century. The Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams and other religious dissenters from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The colony became a state in 1790, upon ratification of the United States Constitution. The state is officially known as the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations to this day.
