The statement that coast redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) grow only in central California and southern Oregon is incomplete.
Their natural range extends along the Pacific coast from southern Oregon (Chetco River) to central California (Santa Cruz Mountains), including a small area straddling the California–Oregon border (e.g., Redwood National and State Parks).
They require the narrow coastal fog belt—cool, moist summers, mild winters. No natural stands exist inland or farther south/north.
