Pamban Island also called Rameswaram Island lies between the Indian peninsula and Sri Lanka. It is off the southeastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India. It is separated from the mainland by the Palk Strait. The island belongs to the Rameswaram tehsil of the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. The island is accessible from the mainland by the Pamban Bridge.
