FWC Guidelines for Recreational Harvest

Clamming is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Key rules:

1. Designated Areas & Seasons

Only specific zones are open, and only during approved seasons. Check FWC website for current maps/closures.

2. Daily Bag Limits

• Hard clams (quahogs): 100 per person/day
• Soft clams (geoducks): 20 per person/day

3. Size Limits

Hard clams must be ≥ 1 inch diameter. Other species may have different minimums.

4. Gear Restrictions

Hand tools only (rakes, shovels, hoes). Mechanical harvesters prohibited in many areas.

5. Closed Zones

Areas with poor water quality, sensitive habitat, or restoration projects are off-limits.
