Lake Mead: The Largest Reservoir in the Southwest U.S.

The largest lake in the southwestern corner of the contiguous United States is Lake Mead. It sits on the Colorado River at the Arizona–Nevada border. Created by Hoover Dam in 1935, it is the largest U.S. reservoir by volume and the fourth largest worldwide, with a surface area of 248 square miles and maximum depth of 532 feet.
