Could the Hawaiian island chain gain another island?

It is currently unlikely that the Hawaiian island chain will gain another island in the foreseeable future. Although the Hawaiian hotspot, which is responsible for the formation of the islands, is still active, the process of island formation is slow and takes millions of years. The youngest island in the chain, Hawaii Island, also known as the Big Island, is still in its early stages of development and has not yet fully emerged from the ocean floor. Therefore, it is unlikely that another island will form within any timeframe relevant to human history.
