Are there images from the bottom of Mariana Trench?
Yes, there are images from the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The deepest point in the Mariana Trench is called the Challenger Deep, and it is about 11,000 meters below sea level. In March 2012, American film director James Cameron became the first person to reach the bottom of the Challenger Deep alone in the Deepsea Challenger submersible. Cameron captured 3D footage of the Mariana Trench during his dive, and some of these images have been released to the public. There are also images from the Challenger Deep that were taken by unmanned submersibles in previous years. One image taken in 2019 shows a plastic bag full of garbage from everyday human civilization on the deep-sea floor of the Mariana Trench.
