Can tsunamis happen in the desert?
Tsunamis cannot occur in the desert because they are caused by large earthquakes or other disturbances that happen in the ocean. Deserts, by definition, are regions that receive very little rain and are characterized by dry, arid conditions. They may have water bodies like lakes or rivers, but these are usually not large or deep enough to generate tsunamis. Tsunamis require large volumes of water and significant movement to form the powerful waves associated with them. Therefore, tsunamis are primarily associated with coastal areas and oceans.
