Cities Within 30 Minutes of London
There are no other "cities" within a 30-minute train ride of central London—London itself is the city. However, numerous towns and commuter hubs fall within ~30 minutes of major London termini:
From London Waterloo (South/West)
- Woking (24 min), Weybridge (25), Surbiton (16), Kingston (28), Richmond (20), Clapham Junction (10).
From London Liverpool Street (East/North)
- Stratford (7), Romford (18), Shenfield (22), Cheshunt (25), Broxbourne (28).
From London King's Cross / St Pancras (North)
- Stevenage (22), Hitchin (28), Finsbury Park (7), St Albans (22 via Thameslink).
From London Paddington (West)
- Reading (25), Slough (18), Maidenhead (22).
From London Victoria / London Bridge (South)
- Croydon (15–18), Bromley South (17), Orpington (22), Sevenoaks (28), Brighton (48 – just over).
These are towns, not independent cities (most are within Greater London or contiguous metro). True independent cities (e.g., Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton) are 45–60+ minutes away.
