The NEET rate in the UK is highest among young people aged 16-24, with an estimated 12.5% of this age group being NEET in 2019. This is down from 13.4% in 2018 and 16.1% in 2011.
The NEET rate is also higher among men than women, with an estimated 14.5% of men aged 16-24 being NEET in 2019, compared to 10.4% of women.
There are a number of factors that can contribute to a person becoming a NEET, including:
* Lack of qualifications or skills
* Difficulty finding a job
* Personal or health problems
* Lack of motivation or confidence
The UK government has a number of policies in place to help reduce the number of NEETs, including:
* Providing funding for education and training programs
* Offering financial support to young people who are out of work
* Providing advice and support to young people who are struggling to find a job
