Lake Lanier Islands Resort spans 1,500 acres on four islands. The islands are connected by the Lanier Islands Parkway, which follows a narrow land bridge from one island to the next and also connects all four to the mainland. The resort boasts accommodations that include lodge rooms and lakeside cottages as well as campsites at the Blue Ridge Campground, which is open to both tents and RVs. The campground is located on Blue Ridge Island and has easy access to all the resort's facilities. The campsites are shady and secluded, and many are situated right on the shore. Lake Lanier Islands Resort also operates a second camping area, known as the Shoal Creek Campground, which is on the mainland about 7 miles from the islands.
A wide range of campsite options are available at Lake Lanier Islands Resort -- from primitive tent sites to RV campsites with full hookups. Water and sewer hookups are available at many RV sites, along with 30- and 50-amp electricity. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire pit and grill, and all campers have access to comfort stations with hot showers and modern restrooms. The campgrounds also include RV dump stations and laundry facilities, and a camp store at the Blue Ridge Campground sells firewood, groceries and a variety of camping supplies.
The options for outdoor recreation are almost limitless at Lake Lanier. The lake has no horsepower restrictions for watercraft, and you can rent a boat at the resort or launch your own at the boat ramp. A fishing pier is located just outside the Blue Ridge Campground, and with a current Georgia fishing license you can catch largemouth bass, catfish, crappie bluegill and many other species. You can also explore the islands on many hiking, biking and horseback riding trails; stables and horses are available for rental. Lake Lanier Islands Resort also has a golf course, beach volleyball court, luxury spa and a variety of dining options.
Lake Lanier Islands Resort is open for camping year-round, and you can book a reservation by phone or through the resort's website. Nightly and weekly rates are available, though prices vary depending on the amenities at your particular site. Other camping options around Lake Lanier include the county-operated campground at River Forks Park (hallcounty.org) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Old Federal Park and Baldridge Creek (recreation.gov).
