Camping in Grand Junction, Colorado

In an area of west-central Colorado largely dominated by starkly beautiful red rock desert, the city of Grand Junction is something of an oasis. Sitting at the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers, Grand Junction is the hub of Grand Valley, which accounts for a big share of Colorado’s farm production. The city is also the gateway to a number of national forests and monuments, as well as several state parks. Campers can choose from five year-round campgrounds in Grand Junction.
  1. Grand Junction KOA

    • Grand Junction KOA (koa.com), 4.2 miles southeast of downtown Grand Junction, puts campers within an easy drive of many of the area’s attractions, including the hiking trails and spectacular vistas of the Colorado National Monument. If you have family members who’d prefer to skip the sightseeing and just relax, the campground’s outdoor swimming pool and sundeck should fit the bill. Open to RVs and tents, the KOA has roughly six dozen campsites, two-thirds with full hookups, including cable TV. No camping gear? Rent one of the campground’s cabins. Other facilities and services include a miniature golf course, game room, playground, Wi-Fi, bike rentals and propane service.
