Colorado is paradise for people who enjoy the outdoors. The state has 42 state parks, as well as national parks, grasslands and forests. Colorado offers many chances for skiing, mountain and rock climbing, swimming, hiking, biking, fishing and horseback riding. The state has its share of culture, too, with many theaters, dance companies and live music. There are a great many parks for recreational vehicle (RV) users all over Colorado, and many campgrounds also offer spaces not only to RV travelers but also to tent campers.

    • Garden of the Gods Campground is a full-service campground located in Colorado Springs. The resort offers not only RV spaces, but also bunkhouses, lodge rooms, suites, tent sites and camper cabins. Bunkhouses come with full kitchens, indoor plumbing, living and dining areas. Cabins are more rustic, and are furnished with bunk beds and queen or double beds. Mountain suites have kitchens, lofts, bathrooms, private bedrooms and overlook the park and pool area, while Tree Top suites share a connecting front deck area and have their own private back decks. RV sites come with full hookups. Some sites are pull-throughs. All guests have use of the resort amenities, such as two heated pools, sun decks, wireless Internet service, playground, game room and lounge. Garden of the Gods Campground is pet-friendly, although pets are not allowed in some suites.

    Sugar Loafin' Campground

    • Sugar Loafin' Campground offers tent and RV camping in Leadville, Colorado, about two hours southwest of Denver. Tent sites are located among the park's many pine trees and offer picnic tables, campfire rings and grills. Tent sites are set away from the RV sites, and may be located on a raised, sandy platform or grass. RV sites come with water and electricity only or with full hookups. Both back-in and pull-through sites are available. Van and pop-up campers are welcome. Sugar Loafin' also offers two cabins with private bathrooms, kitchens and two bedrooms. Guests can pan for gold, mountain bike, hike or relax in front of the fireplace in the recreation room. Sugar Loafin' also has its own store, laundry facilities and pay telephones. The campground allows discounts for senior citizens and members of Good Sam and AAA.

    Monarch Spur RV Park and Campground

    • Monarch Spur RV Park and Campground is located in a valley 8,620 feet above sea level, in Isabel National Forest. The park is located about 12 miles from Salida, in the small town of Poncha Springs. All RV sites are pull-throughs and offer water, sewer and 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical service. The campground has a picnic area, free wireless Internet, store, showers and laundry rooms. Guests can also rent one-bedroom cabins, with their own kitchens and lofts. While at the park, you can pan for gold or rent videos and VCRs. LP gas, backpacks, RV supplies, groceries, ice, books and snacks can be purchased at the campground.
