The three main RV camping areas of Lake Tahoe are South, North and West Lake Tahoe. Most of the larger RV parks with full electrical and sanitary facilities are on the south shore of the lake, which straddles Nevada and California. North Lake Tahoe has the most severe weather in the region, but still offers several RV parks, as does the West Lake area.
All RV Parks on or near Lake Tahoe are open in the summer. Some campgrounds on the north shore of the lake are only open from Memorial Day to mid-September.
Some Lake Tahoe RV Parks offer full "plug-and-play" RV facilities, with amenities that range from water, power and sewers at each site to full showers, picnic tables and trails and lakes within the campground. Each park has specifications as to the size limit of the recreational vehicle.
Lake Tahoe has year-round recreational activities for the RV camper including swimming, boating and hiking in the summer as well as cross-country skiing in the winter. Casino gambling and entertainment is available on the south shore of the lake.
