  1. Campground Amenities

    • Travel in an RV can be rewarding and fun.

Each RV space has its own picnic table and grill. The sites are spacious---the typical site is 24 feet---so you don't feel as though you're crowding your neighbor. Many of the sites, both RV and tent sites, are tree-shaded. Upon registering, an escort leads you to your site. There is a small market located in the campground for picking up supplies you may need or need to replenish. For your convenience, there is a fully-equipped laundry room and clean bathrooms with showers. The dirt roads that wind through the campground add to the feeling that you're camping in a forest. With the exception of some aggressive breeds of dogs, the park is pet-friendly.

    Hiking

    • Hiking is a favorite outdoor recreation.

Although the park is not located on Willow Lake, hiking trails lead from the park and circle the lake. From Willow Lake, this trail also connects to nearby Watson Lake. Willow Lake and Watson Lake are man-made reservoirs in the Granite Dells formations---exposed bedrock and large granite boulders that have eroded into unusual features. There is also access to trails that will lead you to the main Granite Dells location, which is an area of geological interest, filled with massive boulders. Nearby Prescott National Forest offers 450 miles of hiking trails, mountain biking and horseback riding trails.

    Willow Lake

    • Canoes are allowed on Willow Lake.

Willow Lake covers an area of about 400 acres and is an ideal place for kayaking, canoeing or just sitting on the rocks of the granite dells that are around the lakeside, picnicking and enjoying the views. Boating---electric motors only---and fishing are favorite activities. The lake holds largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and sunfish. State fishing licenses are required. Day use facilities here include restrooms, picnic tables, fish cleaning areas, a boat ramp, children's playground and softball fields.

    Granite Dells

    • This scenic area contains massive boulders of ancient rock that have weathered into delicately balanced forms and fanciful shapes. Ruins and artifacts indicate that Native Americans used to live here. Rock climbers often tackle the challenging granite formations. Here, you'll find stands of juniper, pine and fir. Elk and deer often frequent the area.

    Year-round Camping

    • Willow Lake RV Park is open year round. Summers can be warm, with temperatures often in the high 80s. Summertime night temperatures drop to the 50s. The elevation here is just above 5,000 feet, so winters are often cool: 50s in the daytime and as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit at night. Willow Lake RV Park is located at 1617 Heritage Park Road, Prescott, AZ. Their phone numbers are: 800-940-2845 and 928-445-6311.
