The Welsh Dragon Does Not Mark London's Boundary
The Welsh dragon (Y Ddraig Goch) is the emblem of Wales, appearing on its flag. It has no connection to the City of London's boundaries. The City's limits are marked by:
- Dragon boundary marks – but these are City of London dragons (silver, holding shield with St George's cross), distinct from the Welsh dragon.
- Historic stones, plaques, and modern cast-iron markers at entry points (e.g., Temple Bar, London Bridge, Bishopsgate).
The confusion arises because both feature dragons; the City's dragons are heraldic symbols of the Corporation of London, not Wales.
