How to Visit London 's Madame Tussauds

London's Madame Tussauds wax museum has attracted a huge number of visitors since it first opened at its Marylebone Road location in 1884. A visit to London's Madame Tussauds can mean much more than just staring at the wax figures of the world's famous and infamous.       How to get there. It's pretty simple to find your way around London if you go by tube, and there are maps on most walls in the underground stations. To visit London's Madame Tussauds you can take mainline routes including the Jubilee, Bakerloo, Metropolitan, Circle and the Hammersmith and City lines. The nearest tube station is the Baker Street station.

      Beat the queues. As any Londoner knows the queues outside Madame Tussauds are as much of a landmark as any attraction in London. During the high tourist season you can expect to queue for up to 2 hours. Skip the queues by booking a Fast Track ticket via the official website or by calling the telephone number 0870 400 3000.

      Taking the kids. Obviously children will love to visit London's Madame Tussauds but some of the exhibitions are not suitable for children of all ages. An exhibition called Chamber Live is an extra to the Chamber of horrors and is only suitable for children over the age of 12. Baby buggies are also not permitted inside Tussauds and must be kept at the left luggage department. Tussauds will provide a baby carrier for a 5 pound refundable deposit.

      When to go. London's Madame Tussauds is open every day of the year except Christmas day. Peak opening days are weekends and school holidays when the opening hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekday opening hours are usually 9.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Try and book around times that do not clash with the morning or afternoon tube rush hour, as this will make for a more relaxing visit.
