How many universites are there in England?

As of my last update in September 2021, there are 169 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the United Kingdom:

- 139 of these are universities.

- 58 of these are in England, including the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

- 24 are in Scotland.

- 11 are in Wales.

- 26 are in Northern Ireland.

Since my knowledge cutoff date, there may have been changes to the number of universities in the UK. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the official websites of the Department of Education for England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
