In 1953 Harold Butler opened Danny's Donuts in Lakewood, California. The name would later change to Denny's, and it became nationally recognized for American cuisine in a family atmosphere, typically available all hours. Known for its breakfast menu and the notable "Grand Slam," Denny's also offers figure-friendly options and a value menu available any hour of the day. In Salt Lake City, Denny's traditional sit-down restaurant is open 24 hours a day.
In 1977 the first Sconecutter opened, offering a new take on a traditionally sweet dessert bread: the Utah scone bread was used instead for fast-food sandwiches. Dessert scones are also available, in addition to a value menu that features items such as slider sandwiches, sconettes and sconenuts. The drive-thru is open 24 hours a day.
A favorite restaurant among locals, Beto's changed its name to Rancherito's but still offers traditional Mexican cuisine 24 hours a day in several Salt Lake City locations. Spanish music sets the mood while diners enjoy inexpensive food in generous portions. Vegetarian options are also available.
