Which U.S. States Are Part of the Great Plains?

The Great Plains region of the United States includes the following states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. This vast area of flatland and prairie stretches from the Rocky Mountains eastward. Any state not in this list—such as Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Wyoming—is not considered part of the Great Plains.
