Alaska vs. Ohio: Size Comparison

Alaska is vastly larger than Ohio.

• Alaska: 663,268 sq mi (1,717,856 km²) — largest U.S. state, 17% of U.S. land area.
• Ohio: 44,825 sq mi (116,096 km²) — 34th largest.

Alaska is 14.8× the size of Ohio. You could fit 14 Ohios inside Alaska with room left over.

Perspective

• Alaska > Texas (2nd) + California (3rd) + Montana (4th).
• Alaska's coastline (33,904 mi) > rest of U.S. combined.
• Ohio fits in Alaska's Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area alone (145,505 sq mi).

Ohio is an industrial/agricultural Midwestern state; Alaska is an Arctic/subarctic wilderness with mountains, glaciers, tundra, and vast boreal forest. Different worlds.
