Though the property's riverfront location was originally used by Andrew Jackson as a military headquarters during the War of 1812, it didn't open as a hotel until 1852. The Battle House, Renaissance went on to serve as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and, afterward, was the center of local high society for decades. As of 2010, you can rent a room in this genuine historic property for $159 to $300, or a specialty suite ranging up to $2,500. Located in the heart of Mobile, the Battle House, Renaissance is still only a short drive to the Carnival departure port. Hotel amenities include a 7,000 square foot full-service spa, salon, fitness center, swimming pool and on-site restaurants and lounges.
