How many people visit Montana?

According to the Montana Office of Tourism, in 2021 an estimated 12.3 million people visited the state. This was a 5.6% increase from 2020, when 11.7 million people visited. The majority of visitors came from within the United States, with the top five states of origin being Washington, California, Idaho, Minnesota, and Texas. International visitors accounted for less than 1% of total visitors.

Montana's tourism industry is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. The state's natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and welcoming communities are all major draws for visitors. In 2022, Montana is projected to welcome 13.1 million visitors, a 6.5% increase over the previous year.
