The Most Densely Populated US State

New Jersey: America's Most Crowded State

By a significant margin, New Jersey holds the title for the highest population density in the United States.

With approximately 1,205 people per square mile (based on recent census data), the Garden State packs its nearly 9.3 million residents into a relatively small geographic area, driven by its position in the NYC-Philadelphia corridor.
