1. Visit the USPS Website:
- Go to the USPS website: `https://www.usps.com`
- In the search bar, type "change of address" and select the "Change Your Address" option.
2. Select Service Type:
- Choose whether you're changing your address temporarily (temporary change of address) or permanently (permanent change of address).
3. Enter Current Address:
- Enter your current physical address, including your apartment or suite number, city, state, and ZIP code.
4. Input New Address:
- Provide your new physical address, including apartment or suite number, city, state, and ZIP code.
5. Additional Details:
-Specify the date you intend to move and whether you want mail forwarded from your current address to your new address.
-Update any other relevant information such as whether there will be people remaining at the current address.
6. Payment and Review:
-Review your address change information and make payment if required (for example, if you're submitting the form more than 30 days in advance).
7. Submit Form:
-Click on the "Submit Change of Address Form" button.
-You may be prompted to create an account or verify your identity using USPS informed delivery.
Option 2: USPS Form 3575 "Change of Address Order":
1. Visit the USPS:
- Visit your local post office.
2. Get Form 3575:
- Ask for a copy of Form 3575, titled "Change of Address Order."
3. Fill Out Details:
- Clearly and accurately complete the form, including current address, new address, forwarding instructions, and effective date.
4. Sign & Submit:
-Sign and date the form, and submit it to the USPS clerk.
5. Confirmation:
-You will get a confirmation document containing a summary of your change of address request and a confirmation number.
Note:
Changes typically take effect in one to two business days. To ensure smooth mail delivery, file the change of address as close to your move date as possible, but not more than 30 days in advance. Some services, like credit cards or subscriptions, may require a separate address update.
