Spanaway Lake High School is located about 10 miles from Graham. Various ghost stories exist about the school. Some refer to lights that turn on at night by themselves in the empty building. Others concern a catwalk in the theater that shakes and rattles as if someone is walking on it. Some claim to have seen a spectral janitor. According to legend, the school is haunted because a student at one time shot and killed a janitor; another story suggests a student fell from the catwalk.

According to some, the Ferris wheel is popular with ghosts, too. They report the ride starts operating on its own some nights. It also has been reported that screams have been heard from the wheel and that one of the seats rocks with out occupants.
Fort Lewis, about 25 miles from Graham, reportedly has many haunted spots. Fort Lewis is a military base that was first known as Camp Lewis in the first part of the 20th century. Various areas of the fort reportedly have been plagued by supernatural activity. Sounds of troops marching and slamming doors are among the claims. People have also reported seeing apparitions in the woods around the fort. Some claim an exorcism was conducted at the museum on the grounds, and since then paranormal activity in the building ceased.
