A trip to a museum can be an enjoyable outing for senior citizens. The LaPorte County Historical Society (laportecountyhistory.org) offers visitors a look back through time at the history and people of LaPorte County. The museum's regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Among the museum's exhibits are an antique doll collection, a replica General Store, an antique firearms collection and antique pianos. The museum also has a display of sports equipment and memorabilia, a pioneer log cabin display and a replica of a kitchen from the 1920s. Discounted admission applies for LaPorte County residents and any guest over the age of 60.
Some senior citizens also enjoy spending some of their leisure time at casinos. Several casinos are located within a reasonable distance of LaPorte, but the closest one is located approximately 20 miles away in Michigan City, Indiana. The Blue Chip Casino has more than 65,000 square feet of gaming space, all located on one level. Guests can play slot machines, video poker and an array of table games, including roulette, craps, blackjack and mini baccarat. The casino also has a showroom that features performances from recording acts, comedians and magicians. Senior citizens can dine at one of the casino's six restaurants during their visit.
