The Sunsplash Water Park (capecoral.net/SunSplash) is in Cape Coral, Florida, right off the Nicholas Parkway. Some of Sunsplash's kids' attractions are the Main Stream lazy river ride and Tot Spot wading pool. During the summer, this water park provides swimming lessons for ages 6 months to 15 years old. This outdoor water park is open from March through September.
Situated in northern Naples, King Richard's Family Fun Park (kingrichardspark.net) is a small amusement area with a go-cart track, laser tag arena, batting cages and amusement rides. Children over 3 feet tall may ride the park's kid's roller coaster. King Richard's is open year round.
The Little League Network's District Nine represents youth baseball leagues in Southwest Florida. Some of the youth baseball leagues in District Nine include Cape Coral National, Fort Myers American and Greater Pine Island. The season lasts from spring through early summer. Little League baseball is for children ages 9 through 12.
Children interested in lacrosse may participate in Southwest Florida Youth Lacrosse (swflacrosse.com), a collection of lacrosse leagues in the southwestern region of the state. Some Southwest Florida Youth Lacrosse's leagues include the Sharks, who play at Villas Elementary School in Cape Coral and Canterbury School in Fort Myers. The League is for children ages 6 through 14.
Fort Myers' Imaginarium (imaginariumfortmyers.com) is an interactive museum with workshops and classes for children. Exhibits include a 3-D animal-themed movie experience, Dino Dig -- which allows children to participate in archaeological activities -- and Sporty Science Arena. During the summer, the Imaginarium offers camps for children from kindergarten through seventh grade.
The Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens (napleszoo.com) offers wildlife exhibits and allows children ages 2 and up. This Zoo offers family and grandparent membership plans which permit children to enter free. Naples Zoo also accommodates school field trips and church groups by providing discounted group rates. Night tours of the zoo are available.
Naples Pier is on the Gulf of Mexico in Naples, less than 10 minutes from the city's Old Town district. Children of all ages may fish or stroll along the Naples Pier. This pier was built in 1888, making it one of the oldest existing piers in southwest Florida. The pier has a concessions stand and restroom facilities.
Sanibel Island is home to Bowman's Beach, a shoreline with white, sugary sands on the Gulf of Mexico. Activities for children at this beach include searching for seashells and crabs.
