With Tampa, Florida being just an hour and a half from Orlando and the magic of Disney, people often forget some of the wonders that Tampa holds for the whole family. There are a wide variety of activities that will thrill kids and parents alike. Tampa offers sightseeing, museums, thrill parks, and animal encounters that will appeal to a variety of interests.
  1. Busch Gardens

    • Busch Gardens may well be one of the most well-known attractions in Tampa. This adventure park will entertain both children and adults with thrill rides, roller coasters, animal encounters, and themed rides for smaller children as well. For an average family of four, including two adults and two children, tickets will cost over $300. They offer discounted rates for purchasing tickets for multiple parks in the area, including Sea World, Discovery Cove, and Aquatica.

    Adventure Island

    • Adventure Island is a giant water park located across the street from Busch Gardens. Kids and adults can explore everything Adventure Island has to offer, from huge water slides to the lazy rivers and children's aquatic playground. Adventure Island is open from March to October when weather permits. Ticket prices vary for adults and children by season, and special deals can be arranged for purchasing tickets for various parks associated with Adventure Islands.

    The Florida Aquarium

    • Kids will have the chance to get close up to the many thousands of animals and plants under the ocean with interesting and educational exhibits at the Florida aquarium. For those who wish to get even deeper behind the scenes, special tours and animal encounters are available. Located in downtown Tampa, the Florida aquarium is open year-round except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Additional shows, tours and special events can be purchased at an additional charge.

    MOSI

    • Science is made fun with the Southeast's biggest science museum, MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry). MOSI offers a hands-on approach to science, with things such as hurricane simulation, walking with the dinosaurs, IMAX films and various other activities for children and adults to enjoy. MOSI is open every day of the year, with various hours depending on the day of the week. It is located in North Tampa, about a mile from Busch Gardens.
