Marrowstone Island is a long, narrow stretch of land just southeast of Port Townsend, Washington. Marrowstone was given its name by George Vancouver, a British explorer, in 1792. He gave the island the name due to the supposed deposits of marrowstone on the sandy cliffs. Hotels and cabins in the area enjoy a secluded location and offer amenities in keeping with the tranquil surroundings.
Beach Cottages on Marrowstone Island offers mountain or water views from each country cottage. Each cottage features separate living areas, fully-equipped kitchens and access to the private boat ramp. There are seven cottages, all heated with wood stoves. The wood is supplied by Beach Cottages. TempurPedic matresses and cottage linens are supplied. In keeping with the sanctuary-like atmosphere, the cottages do not have televisions, Internet access or telephones. Recreational activities include, fishing, swimming, boating, hiking and golf. Port Townsend is a 20-minute drive from the location.
The Inn at Port Hadlock is located three miles from Marrowstone Island. The inn is located on land once belonging to the coastal Salish Tribal village. The site was known as Tsetsibus, "where the sun rises." The Port Hadlock Inn offers guests a 24-hour fitness center, Wi-Fi, on-site dining at Nemo's Restaurant and pet-friendly accommodations. Guests can enjoy cruises and boating activities at Port Hadlock.
The Crow's Nest Cabin is ideal for a romantic honeymoon or couple's getaway. This non-smoking cabin offers guests access to a private beach, a deck overlooking the water and a living area with a gas fireplace. The cabin features a complete, compact kitchen. Pets are not allowed. In keeping with the sanctuary-type atmosphere, the Crow's Nest Cabin does not provide telephone service, Internet or television. It is located on the Olympic Peninsula, only 15 miles from historic Port Townsend. Activities include swimming, fishing, hiking and kayaking.
The Hadlock Motel is located in Port Hadlock, four miles from Marrowstone Island. The motel features high-speed Internet access, cable television and pet-friendly rooms. A fitness center, a beauty shop and restaurants, such as the Ajax Cafe and Ferino's Pizza, are within walking distance of the motel. All rooms feature air conditioning and non-smoking rooms are available upon request. Recreational activities include beach combing, picnicking, hiking and camping.
