  1. Guemes Island Resort

    • The Guemes Island Resort opened in 1948, known as the Charles Guemes Island Fishing Resort. The resort then grew to the popular vacation spot that it is today. The resort is located on the northern tip of Guemes Island, just five minutes by ferry from Anacortes, Washington. Guemes Island Resort rests on 20 acres of beachfront property and is home to a view of the Lummi, Vendovi, Jack, Eliza and Samish Islands.

    Accomodations

    • Guemes Island Resort features three homes, eight cabins and four huts. The homes are beachfront, and come fully equipped with a kitchen, bed and bath and linens. The houses sleep between six to 12 people. House prices range from $220 to $440 per night during the summer season and $198 to $313 per night in the off-season. Cabins feature a fully-equipped kitchen, bed and bath and linens. Cabins sleep between two to six people. Prices range from $165 to $225 per night to during the summer, and $137 $185 per night in the off season. The huts or "yurts" are tents on wood platforms, secluded from the rest of the resort. There are three 16-foot yurts, sleeping two to four people and one 20-foot yurt sleeping four to six people. All feature beds, an indoor table and chairs, private deck and access to private bathrooms with token operated showers and a cook pavilion. Prices range from $75 per night to $119 per night depending on the number of people staying and if you request linens and towels. All prices are up to date as of January 2011.

    Amenities

    • While at the Guemes Island Resort in Washington, you may decide to spend your days crabbing, hiking, bird-watching, fishing or doing nothing at all. You may choose to warm up in the resort sauna before cooling off in the island bay. Massage therapy is offered on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by appointment and charges are $35 for a half hour minimum. The recreation room features a Ping-Pong and foosball table, communal freezer, library, television and DVD player, indoor and outdoor games, outdoor grill and free Wi-Fi access. Rent a dutch tub hot tub for $69 per day. The dutch tub is filled with fresh saltwater and heated with firewood. Rent either a 12- or 14-foot aluminum rowboat provided by the resort for guest enjoyment. Bring your own kayak or use the complimentary doubles or single kayaks offered by the resort.

    General Information

    • Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out is 11:00 a.m. (early check-in and late check-out are also available for up to two hours, at an additional cost of $15). Peak summer season lasts from July 1st until labor day, while regular summer season is May 1st to September 30th. The quiet season runs from October 1st to April 30th. Summer holiday rates apply for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years while special holiday rates apply for Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. There is a three-night minimum rental during the summer season and two-night minimum for cabins and three-night for houses during the quiet season. Dogs are welcome for a charge of $10 per night per dog.
