Tallahassee, the capitol of Florida, is the 133rd largest city in the country, according to the 2008 census bureau. The city contains just over 150,000 people, as of the 2000 census, and is a regional attraction for residents of Florida as well as for travelers around the country. The city has many museums of different varieties, from art to history to child-oriented, as well as many other fun activities for the whole family.

  1. The Knott House Museum

    • The Knott house museum was built in the 1840s and remains one of Tallahassee's oldest standing structures. The Knott house was the actual location of Lincoln's Emancipation Address speech in 1865. The museum provides historical information on Tallahassee's past as well as Florida's past. Hours for the museum are Wednesday through Friday, 1-4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One hour tours are available and depart on the hour during all open hours.

The center uses aerospace as a theme to foster long-term interest in math, science, engineering and technology; create positive learning experiences; and motivate students to pursue higher education and careers in these fields, according to the website.
