Northwest Indiana is the coastal area of Indiana that touches Lake Michigan. The area has several different cities with an array of nightlife. Northwest Indiana has straight bars, gay bars, microbreweries and Irish pubs for travelers and residents alike to enjoy.   1. Dick's R U Crazee?

    • Dick's R U Crazee? is a gay bar in Hammond, Indiana that first opened its doors in 1990. The bar is closed every Monday but open Tuesday through Thursday 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. and Friday through Sunday 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Dick's prides itself on being a welcoming establishment for everyone and has weekly promotions to bring in customers. They offer free pool on Thursdays and Saturdays, $1 draft beers on Thursday and free hot dogs and chips on Sundays. In addition to the weekly promotions, Dick's has special holiday parties and in 2010 organized pet food donations to a local animal shelter.

    Tilted Kilt

    • The Tilted Kilt is an Irish-pub-inspired franchise that first opened in 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Locations are now spread across the country with one in the Northwest Indiana city of Merrillville. In addition to a wide range of both Irish and non-Irish beer on tap, the Tilted Kilt has a food menu with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and hot wings. As of 2010, a burger cost approximately $10 with a serving of french fries. What sets the Tilted Kilt apart from other local sports bars is the service. Tilted Kilt waitresses wear revealing uniforms that include a short plaid skirt, matching plaid bra and a belly-exposing white cardigan.

    3floyds Brewpub

    • 3floyds is a small, family operated microbrewery in Munster, Indiana. While the brewery itself provides tours and special tasting events, next door is their own pub open seven days a week. Their hours are Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. Saturday and Sunday's hours are 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. The pub serves 3floyds on tap and available specialty brews in bottles. For example, in December 2010 3floyds offered Poppa Skull, a collaborative brew with Dogfish microbrewery of Delaware. For patrons not interested in 3floyds, the pub also provides cocktails and guest beers. The pub also offers a small menu of bar food for hungry customers featuring tacos, burgers and sandwiches. The average cost of a menu item in 2010 was approximately $8.
