Haunted Plantation Tours

Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana and it offers family friendly festivals, Mardi Gras celebrations and haunted plantation tours. Historical plantations from 19th century America are the setting for these tours, and they include tales of real life paranormal activity, places where murders have occurred and psychic visitations. Nottoway, Myrtles and the Parlange Plantations are three historical sites that offer haunted tours.

  1. Nottoway Plantation

    • Julia Marceline was the youngest child of John Hampden Randolph and was the only one of his children born on the Nottoway Plantation. Sightings of her ghost have been reported by various employees and a psychic. As of December, 2010, tours are offered daily at Nottoway Plantation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and visitors can take advantage of the plantation's hospitality with dining or by renting one of the rooms for an overnight stay.

    Myrtles Plantation

    • General David Bradford built the Myrtles Plantation in 1794, and since its construction, there have been ghost sightings of naked Indian girls, deceased slaves, reappearing murder victims who died on the grounds and strange apparitions that have a taste for scary piano music. This is considered one of the most haunted places in America and tours are offered daily between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as of December, 2010.

    Parlange Plantation

    • Charles Parlange didn't build this mansion, but his name is used to identify this haunted plantation. Parlange married the widow of Marquis Vincent de Ternant, a French nobleman, after he passed away. Virginie was Ternant's widow and she was a strict woman who forbade her daughter Julie from choosing her real love. Julie became distraught over the matter and ended up killing herself and since then, her ghost has reappeared on the plantation. Tours are private and offered by appointment only.
