The Ghosts of Gettysburg Tour was started by historian Mark Nesbitt back in 1994. Nesbitt has written a series of books on the various ghosts of Gettysburg and instructs his guides to quote liberally from the texts. Dressed in period attire, tour guides take guests through sites of the famous Battle of Gettysburg, to nearby old Pennsylvania College which was a hospital for soldiers, to the Gettysburg graveyard. The tour departs at 8 p.m. every night. While the tours leave rain or shine, reservations are strongly encouraged as the tour does not depart 365 days out of the year.

Gettysburg Ghost Tours offer year-round tours led by guides who carry candles as they lead guests from one haunted location to the next. While there is a light amount of walking, these tours pause often to regale stories of the haunted Gettysburg, with each of the tour's professional storytellers taking their own route along the city. Tours leave rain or shine, with umbrellas available if the weather gets nasty. The tour is about an hour long.
