Horseback Tours of Gettysburg

Close to three million visitors make their way to Gettysburg each year to view the Civil War battlefield, spending more than $300 million, according to the Gettysburg Visitors Bureau. The Gettysburg area continues to attract history buffs who want to experience firsthand a place many only read about in a textbook. Touring the battlefield on horseback provides an authentic experience for visitors who want to travel back in time.
  1. Artillery Ridge Camping Resort

    • The riding stable at Artillery Ridge offers one- or two-hour tours of the Gettysburg battlefields on horseback. The maximum group size at Artillery Ridge is 25, and riders may not exceed 240 pounds or be younger than 8 years old. For horse owners, the resort offers private guided tours in two- and four-hour increments. All tours include admission to the Gettysburg Battlefield Diorama, featuring 20,000 hand-painted soldiers inside an 800-square-foot display. Artillery Ridge offers campsites, a fishing pond, swimming pool, rental cabins and a convenience store on the extensive property located just south of downtown Gettysburg.
