Beach Clubs in Westchester County, New York

New York's Westchester county, north of New York City and Long Island Sound, has a population of approximately 950,000. It is well known for its charming towns and villages, as well as its castles and 'old money' mansions. Home to four generations of Rockefellers, exclusive beach clubs punctuate the county's coastline.

  1. Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club

    • This club, situated on acres of stunning waterfront overlooking Long Island Sound, offers slips for sail and powerboats up to 90 feet.
      It promotes itself as a premiere destination for special event celebrations, including weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs. Members may dine in an historic clubhouse or the club's Pavilion Cafe, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Amenities include tennis and basketball courts, and a private swimming beach. The club also operates a day camp for children ages two to six years old. As of 2010, family membership begins at $4,250. The initiation fee of $1,500 is currently being waived for new members.

    Manursing Island Club

    • Founded in 1911, membership in this club has been passed down through generations of family members. The club occupies a spectacular setting on the edge of Long Island Sound in Rye, New York. The Manursing is geared towards sporting pursuits and has a proud history of hosting swimming and tennis events, dating back to the 1930s. The club also runs summer camp programs. Dining is offered in Manursing's restaurant throughout the year.

    Greentree Country Club

    • Situated on the Long Island Sound, the Greentree Country Club is a swimmer's paradise, with a private beach, an Olympic size swimming pool and a children's pool. Sports include basketball, beach volleyball and ping-pong. The imposing white mansion that is home to the Greentree Country Club was designed by distinguished architect, Stanford White, in the early 1900s. It is one of the most distinctive buildings on the Long Island Sound, with its classical high ceilings, marble floors and ornately crafted chandeliers, As of 2010, a family membership costs $3,000.
