Boston Fourth of July Cruises

Cruise Boston Harbor on the Fourth of July, culminating with the Boston Pops concert on the Esplanade along the Charles River--the oldest and largest public celebration of the Fourth in the country. The concerts were started in 1929 by conductor Arthur Fiedler and were enhanced with fireworks by philanthropist David Mugar during the bicentennial celebrations in 1976. That celebration holds the world record for the largest crowd to ever attend a classical concert. Fourth of July cruises in Boston Harbor take in views of Boston, Cambridge and Bunker Hill, among many private craft observing America's Independence Day.

  1. Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships - Liberty Clipper

    • Immerse yourself in sailing on Liberty Clipper, an 125-foot Tall Ship Schooner, cruising Boston Harbor July Fourth. During Harborfest (June 30 to July 5), the first cruise of the day is the USS Constitution Tall Ship Cookout, with hotdogs and hamburgers served during the two and one-half hour lunch excursion. The late afternoon sail is the "Boston Tea Party Sail," where guests experience what John Hancock experienced, including the throwing of teabags from three British ships. Capping off July Fourth is the Tall Ship Fireworks Sail, with a trip to the offshore islands where visitors can watch fireworks explode over the city, listen to the Boston Pops and enjoy a cookout.
