    Wind River Raft and Hike

    • The 10-day Wind River Raft and Hike trip is set for Aug. 31 to Sept. 9, 2011. This wild river raft trip and hike is set within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Expect to see grizzly bears, caribou, moose, beaver, black bear, lynx and possibly wild wolves. The swift Wind River makes this journey a difficult and exciting experience, with its class 2 and 3 rapids as well as boulder gardens and standing waves. If the night sky is clear, you can witness the natural beauty of the Aurora Borealis. The price for this trip is $4,200 per person and includes transportation beyond Fairbanks, guide service, organic food, cooking and eating utensils, repair and safety equipment, firearm carried by the guide and one bear spray, boating gear, one life jacket and one medium-sized dry bag.

    Canning River Raft Trip

    • Imagine wild river rafting down the 130-mile Canning River, which is the largest river in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Canning is a class 2 whitewater river, and is surrounded with amazing views of the Arctic coast and surrounding foothills. This rafting trip takes place July 21 to July 30, 2011 and costs $4,500 per person. This price includes all boating equipment, cooking and eating utensils, repair and safety tools, transportation during the trip, and an experienced guide. Raft through the coastal plains, foothills and mountains, all the way to the Arctic coast. Potential wildlife sightings include caribou, arctic and red foxes, bears, ptarmigan, golden eagles, moose and Dall sheep. If the river waters are not too high guests will also be invited to try out their fishing skills.
