Orange is a small town of less than 15,000 people in southern Connecticut, approximately five miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Once the home of the Paugusset Indians, the town dates back to 1639 and following World War II made the transition from a farming community to an upscale residential community. There are many restaurants in Orange, several of which are located along historic Boston Post Road, also known as U.S. Route 1.
Wasabi Japanese Restaurant, located approximately a mile southwest of Orange Hills Country Club, specializes in sushi and sashimi, either a la carte or as part of lunch or dinner combination platters. In addition to the fish traditionally served in sushi restaurants, such as tuna and salmon, Wasabi serves its own special rolls such as the Out of Control Roll, which has spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail, tuna, tempura flakes and avocado. Appetizers such as Tuna Tataki and Lobster Cocktail are available, as are lunch specials featuring a variety of sushi rolls. The restaurant offers soup, including miso or seafood, and six types salad, including seaweed, mango and avocado salads. Those who prefer not to eat sushi also have choices of beef, chicken, pork or tofu dishes, as well as sweet potato or mushroom rolls. Wasabi introduces new sushi rolls and appetizers every three months and the restaurant offers catering services.
