Tourism Attractions in Dallas

As the ninth-largest city in the U.S., Dallas, Texas, offers a variety of attractions to entertain and engage adults and children. The southern city is home to the Dallas Cowboys and the State Fair of Texas, and is known for its upscale shopping options and culinary delights.

  1. Dallas Arboretum

    • Situated on 66 acres on White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum is home to 30 distinctive gardens. It is especially popular in the spring. A tram provides a tour of the 15 colorful display gardens.

    Dallas Zoo

    • The 95-acre Dallas Zoo was the first zoo in the southeast. Open year-round, the zoo is divided into two sections: Wilds of Africa and Zoo North. A monorail guides visitors through a safari ride to watch gorillas, chimpanzees and other inhabitants. Zoo North is home to giraffes, kangaroos and other animals and features Bug U, exhibits of insects.

    Sixth Floor Museum

    • The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza was constructed in 1989 to help people understand accounts related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The museum was previously the Texas School Book Depository. Evidence has shown that shots fired from the Depository's sixth floor killed President Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald, a Depository employee at the time, was accused of killing the president. The museum maintains and displays documents and photographs relating to the president's assassination and legacy.
