The Dallas World Aquarium is home to marine- and swamp-life animals from five continents, 14 countries and three oceans. As soon as you walk into the door, you are greeted by a 200-foot-high exhibit filled with live plants and animals that span many regions of the world. The rainforest exhibit houses a 40-foot waterfall as well as marine and avian species like manatees and vampire bats. Continue on the path to the outdoor South Africa exhibit and then to the indoor Mundo Maya exhibit.
If you enjoy a nice walk along manicured flowers and lawns, visit the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. This 66-acre land is filled with spectacular seasonal flower, trees, plants and ornamental shrubs. Craft booths are available for young children during certain times of the season and adults can enjoy high tea time. You might also see a wedding reception or bridal photo shoot while you are there.
With more than 95 acres and thousands of animals, the Dallas Zoo is the first and largest zoo in Texas. The Dallas Zoo has an African animal exhibit, "Giants of the Savanna" exhibit, reptile houses and more. The zoo houses an 11-acre habitat for its giraffes, lions, cheetahs, elephants and more while offering a panoramic view of the lion's base camp. The children's zoo area has a petting farm, an educational discovery house where conservationists have fun activities for young children, and an outdoor stage for shows.
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza showcases the events leading up to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the legacy of JFK and collections such as original photographs, video documentation of the event, and artifacts that the killer used during the shooting. You can also see the vantage point that Lee Harvey Oswald had during the day of the assassination on Nov. 22, 1963. Since the museum opened in 1989, it has brought more than 6 million visitors worldwide and is open to people of all ages.
