Since 1990, lesbians in Los Angeles have found a place to party on Friday nights at Girl Bar events held at various clubs around town. Founded by Robin Gans and Sandy Sachs, Girl Bar boasts an upscale atmosphere that has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and the New York Times. As of September 2010, this long-running is held at Haute nightclub and the party begins at 9 p.m. and winds down around 2 a.m. Girl Bar features go-go dancers, DJs, dancing and networking opportunities for patrons.

Established in 1972, Jewel's Catch One touts itself as Los Angles' first black gay and lesbian disco. Today the venue is a dance club by night and a community health center by day, serving residents of all sexual orientations. Jewel's Catch One has three dance floors, three bars and weekly parties that draw a diverse crowd. Some events at Jewel's Catch One include karaoke, live musical performances and themed parties. Hungry patrons can also grab a bite to eat at the club's Vegan Village Internet Cafe.
