Houston is one of Texas' largest cities and is best known for its connection to the oil industry. What visitors may not realize is that there are many fun activities for children in Houston. An added bonus? Adults will find that these destinations are just as interesting for them as for their little ones.
A giant playground for the mind, the Children's Museum of Houston is packed with interactive exhibits like Flow Works, Invention Convention, Building Zone, and the Think Tank. Other exhibits showcase life in other cultures, while Kid's Hall is a giant playroom and Power Play gets the kids up and moving. After so much activity, you may need a break. Fortunately, the museum also has a cafe for hungry families, a gift shop and even a library.

Six acres of entertainment, shopping, and dining await visitors at the Downtown Aquarium. Kids can participate in an array of carnival games, ride the vintage carousel, and hop on the ferris wheel or the thrill ride, Lighthouse Dive. Visitors can also see endangered white tigers and a python. Of course, there are hundreds of fish and sea creatures in the 500,000 gallon tank, too.
