Downtown Chicago is better known for its business district and tourist attractions, but there are a few nightclubs in the Loop neighborhood. Near the Chicago River on Illinois Street, The Underground Chicago has a bomb shelter theme. Servers wear military outfits, and the decor looks like a bunker. The club is only open three days a week, from 9 p.m until 4 a.m on Thursdays and Fridays, and 5 a.m on Saturdays. Coat check is available, as well as some finger foods and small appetizers. DJs spin dance and house music.

As its name indicates, this club specializes in martinis. It's not open very late, and is only open on weekdays. The Martini Bar usually hosts private parties on weekends, but it is open to the public on Friday nights until 1 a.m. The Martini Bar has a casual atmosphere that is perfect for happy hour after a day of work. Music ranges from swing jazz to rock.

For the highest energy club near the Loop, Ontourage offers two floors of music. DJs spin hip hop and techno on the first floor, but the upstairs offers a more laid back lounge atmosphere. Bottle service is offered at Ontourage, but a full bar is available too. The club is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and is open until 2 a.m on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and until 3 a.m on Saturdays. Admission ranges between $10 and $20.
