Field Trips to Dallas, Fort Worth

There are so many interesting places for field trips in Dallas and Fort Worth that it is hard to choose where to go. Some field trip destination like the Texas State Fair and the Fort Worth Stock Show are seasonal events and are therefore time-limited. There are two National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration offices in the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex, but field trips are limited to very small groups with advanced planning.

  1. Dallas World Aquarium

    • The Dallas World Aquarium includes more than just fish.

      The Dallas World Aquarium is located just off the West End in downtown Dallas. The Aquarium is open from 9 am to 5 pm from March through August, then 10 am to 5 pm September through February. The aquarium includes much more than just fish. Exhibits include plants, birds, insects, bats, snakes, turtles, sloths, jaguars and penguins. Ticket prices range from $21.95 for adults to $12.95 for children. You can eat in any of the three restaurants or brown-bag it. The Book and Gift stores are open during regular hours. There are a variety of parking lots nearby or you can take a DART bus or light rail into the West End and walk a few blocks.

    Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

    • Noble Planetarium is located at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

      The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History complex includes Innovations Studios, the Noble Planetarium, the Omni Theater, the Fort Worth Children's Museum, National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, and the Museum of Science and History. There is something for everyone in the complex. The Museum offers regular field trip opportunities to the Omni, the Planetarium and to the regular museum exhibits. Group pricing is available for groups of 15 or more if you book at least two weeks in advance. The museum can accommodate special-needs guests with advance notification. The museum has an on-site café with five different food stations and a concession stand at the Omni. Shop Too! is the museum gift shop and includes many items that are directly related to exhibits in the museum. Ticket prices to the museum exhibits are $14 for adults and $10 for seniors and children. Ticket prices include all the regular museum exhibits and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. Omni Theater prices are $7 for adults and $6 for seniors and children for short features and $10 and $8, respectively, for longer features. Planetarium tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and children. Combination tickets are also available.

    Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not!

    • The Palace of Wax contains wax replicas of many famous people

      Located between Dallas and Fort Worth and down the road from Six Flags Over Texas, you will find Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not! The Palace of Wax Museum contains wax replicas of favorite movie stars and historical people. There are also specially themed exhibits of historical events. Famous cartoonist Robert Ripley collected odd items and curiosities for the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium. The complex also includes a Enchanted Mirror Maze and a dinosaur display. Combination tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and military, and $13 for children. You can also get season passes and tickets to single exhibits.
