The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is located on 30 square miles in Irving, Texas, between Dallas and Fort Worth. The airport accommodates more than 150,000 passengers each day, the eighth largest passenger flow in the world. The airport is a major hub for American Airlines, making up 60 percent of the airport traffic passengers connecting through the Dallas airport to another destination. Eighteen passenger airlines operate at the airport, including seven foreign airlines.
Dallas/Fort Worth International, or DFW, is made up of five terminals, A through E. Terminals A, B and C operate only American Airlines flights. Passengers access primarily international flights in Terminal D. Flights to and from cities within the U.S. on airplanes operated by airlines other than American Airlines are accessed in Terminal E. Each terminal includes passenger pick-up and drop-off areas.
Visitors to the Dallas/Fort Worth airport have several choices in parking. The airport offers on-site valet parking where the vehicle can be left with curbside valets at any terminal to be parked at a covered parking garage at the airport. Terminal parking locations are available next to each terminal. Express parking areas located at the north and south areas of the airport are cheaper, with transportation to each terminal. The cheapest option is remote parking lots located near the South and North entrances of the airport.
Passengers can transfer between the five terminals at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport by a van service offered by the airport outside security or the Skylink, a high-speed train available within the airport beyond security checkpoints. The Skylink connects all five terminals within about five minutes, with two stops at each terminal. Both the Skylink and van service are free.
The Dallas/Fort Worth airport offers several options for ground transportation to get around the Dallas area. In addition to rental car companies located onsite, outside each terminal, passengers will find taxis, courtesy vehicles operated by local hotels and vehicles that offer shared rides operated by transportation companies. Public transportation options to and from the airport include public buses and trains. Limousine service and charter buses can also be hired at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
Passengers at the Dallas Fort Worth airport won't have trouble finding shopping or food. About 100 specialty shops and 120 food and beverage locations can be found throughout the terminals. The airport also offers wireless internet access for a fee, services such as shoe shining and play areas for children. Two hotels, the Grand Hyatt DFW and the Hyatt Regency DFW, are located on the airport grounds.
