Lincoln City, Oregon Activities

Lincoln City, Oregon is the biggest town along Oregon's Central Coast. Thousands of visitors come here every year to enjoy the seven miles of beach and to find out why this city is known as the Kite Capital of the World. However, while the beach is lovely, it isn't the only activity drawing visitors to Lincoln City.

  1. Fly a Kite on the Beach

    • Kite shops dot Lincoln City's portion of Highway 101 with merchandise ranging from simple shapes to complex designs. The long stretches of beach and almost constant winds make Lincoln City a perfect place to fly your kite. Oregon beaches are free to all and Lincoln City has a number of access points to get to them. Be forewarned that a warm day is rare on the Oregon Coast so bring along a jacket.

    Devil's Lake

    • Devil's Lake is a large lake in the heart of Lincoln City. A road circumnavigates the lake offering great views for the most part. The lake is home to several birds such as eagles and cormorants. At the state run campground you can camp for $6-28 (reservations required, prices current as of August 2010) and in the summer they offer kayak tours. Or you can just walk off the dock and jump in for a swim. If in a boat, paddle your way west to see the D River. At only 120 feet long it is the world's shortest river (according to Guinness World Records).
