Sugar Mountain Resort is a 115-acre ski resort that offers numerous other winter activities, including ice skating, tubing and snowboarding. For skiers and snowboarders, the resort has novice, intermediate and expert trails, and offers grooming and snowmaking services. The resort is serviced by a lift network that includes triple chairlifts, and offers nightly activities such as tubing. There is a skiing and snowboarding school on-site, as well as a ski shop and rental services. There is also a cafeteria on-site, and the resort offers family and group winter packages as well as special rates for children. The winter season for the resort traditionally runs from December through March.

The Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, located in Mars Hill, North Carolina, offers skiing and snowboarding during the winter season. A 72-acre resort, it offers on-site lodging with a heated indoor pool, eating at the Lodge Steak and Ribs Restaurant, and complimentary shuttle service from the parking lots. Teaching areas are reserved for beginners on the slopes, with twenty-three skiing slopes offered altogether. Student and family rates are available, and for 2010, the resort is offering a "Groups Come Free" promotion.

The Appalachian Ski Mtn resort, situated in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, has invested approximately $2.5 million worth of infrastructure improvements since October of 2008. The lodge at the resort features a gift and ski equipment shop, as well as rental services, a dining facility (open for all three meals), lockers and a television room for those looking to unwind after a day on the slopes. The mountain itself offers eleven trails and ski areas, as well as five lifts. Only two beginner trails are available, but there are three freestyle skiing areas as well. A total of three expert runs are on the mountain.

The Beech Mountain Ski Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and snow tubing as a part of its winter activities. Both day and night skiing is available, and the mountain offers fifteen trails and ten lifts, including two beginner trails and four expert trails. There is also a freestyle skiing terrain. Facility amenities include a skiing learning center and school, with private and group lessons, as well as an on-site nursery. The resort also offers four restaurants, two different gift and ski shops, complimentary high-speed Internet access and rental services. There is one run for snow tubing, and rentals are available for ice skating.
