    Appalachian Ski Mountain

    • Appalachian Ski Mountain is nestled in the state's western High Country region in Blowing Rock. The resort offers 27 skiable acres with 11 trails, five chair lifts and three terrain parks. Trails feature a highest vertical drop of 365 feet, with the longest run measuring 2,640 feet. The terrain parks feature more than 30 unique rails, boxes, jumps and jibs. Appalachian is the only complete "Burton Learn to Ride" facility in North Carolina, offering programs that combine proper equipment choices with one-on-one teaching methods to make snowboarding easy and fun for anyone. The resort also has a 46,000-square-foot lodge with a 200-foot-long observation deck, three dining rooms, a TV room with fireplace, equipment rental shops, game room, locker room and a slope-view restaurant.     Sapphire Valley Ski Resort

    • Sapphire Valley Ski Resort is part of a 5,700-acre four-season resort situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Sapphire. The resort is suited for skiers of beginning and intermediate skill and offers eight skiable acres with two trails for skiing and snowboarding. Trails feature a highest vertical drop of 200 feet with the longest run measuring 1,600 feet. The resort is home to the Frozen Falls Tube Park, a 500-foot, multi-lane snow tube hill with a vertical drop of 70 feet. The resort's base lodge has a stone fireplace, the Four Seasons Grille Restaurant, a clothing and gift shop, TV lounge and equipment rental.
